5 Upcoming Cars in India by Diwali 2021

Diwali – also known as the festival of lights is a major festival for Hindus. As it is considered an auspicious period, people plan their big purchases and there is a huge demand for vehicles.  It is also an important time for the Indian automobile industry. The car manufacturers usually launch new models to maximize sales during these festivities. However, lockdown restrictions across different states in India have delayed upcoming launches.

Here is a list of new models expected to launch by Diwali 2021.

New-Gen Maruti Celerio: The new Celerio is expected to carry a 1.0-liter petrol engine (68 PS and 90 Nm) similar to the current model. Another variant of a 1.2-liter petrol engine (83 PS and 113 Nm) with automated manual transmission and a 5-speed manual might be offered as well. Its features include dual airbags (front), steering-mounted audio controls, rear parking camera, climate control (auto), Touchscreen infotainment system (7-inch) equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The revised dimensions of the car should result in better cabin space. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 4.66 lakhs to Rs. 5.91 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

New-Gen Maruti Celerio

Mahindra XUV700: Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of XUV700 by October 2021 which is an upgrade from XUV500. The new upgrade is supposed to include a turbo-petrol unit (2.0‑litre) and a turbo-diesel motor (2.2-litre). The vehicle is said to be available in both manual and automatic transmissions with an all-wheel drive. Estimated to be priced between Rs. 12 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs, its safety features include auto booster headlamps with additional lights for when the vehicle crosses a speed limit of 80 Kmph. The pop-out door handles and a panoramic sunroof is supposed to provide a premium look.

Mahindra XUV700

Volkswagen Taigun: The compact SUV is estimated to be priced between Rs. 9 lakhs to Rs. 17.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). Taigun is based on a similar MQB-A0-IN architecture as the Skoda Kushaq. It will be available in 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission) and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (6-speed manual and a 7-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox). Its features include a multi-function steering wheel, alloy wheels, wireless charging, touchscreen infotainment system (10-inch), power steering, etc.

Volkswagen Taigun

Force Motors Gurkha: Expected to be launched on September 9, 2021. The off-roader SUV which consists of an all-black cabin will be carrying a 2.6-liter diesel engine powered by Mercedes-Benz. Its transmission will include a 5 -speed manual gearbox and is estimated to be priced between Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs. The SUV is equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, power windows, dual front airbags, an HVAC system (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), and much more.

Force Motors Gurkha

Tata HBX: The upcoming Mirco SUV is expected to be launched in October 2021. It will be carrying a 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine similar to Altroz, Tigor, and Tiago. It is estimated to be priced between Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 8 lakhs (ex-showroom). Its safety features include a rear parking camera, dual front airbags. Its transmissions include a 5-speed manual as well as automatic. It will be competing against Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
