Aakash Plus BYJU’S: The Best of Online and Offline Education

The Indian Edtech space has seen its largest acquisition with BYJU’S – The Learning App acquiring the offline test prep organization Aakash Educational Services Ltd. with a cash and stock deal of nearly $1B. The amalgamation of Aakash plus BYJU’S is enabling a possibility to create an impactful online-offline learning experience for students.

Aakash Plus BYJU’S: A Game Changer in the Indian Education Space

The two prominent names in the Indian Education space: BYJU’S and Aakash together will bring back an omnichannel model of learning in the Indian Education scenario. Behind the integration of Aakash plus BYJU’S, the intention is to facilitate students to learn anywhere, anytime, and through any mode.

Here is what we can expect from the billion-dollar acquisition:

A Blended Hybrid Model for Students: While BYJU’S is the undisputed leader in the online Edtech space, Aakash is ranked one of the top offline coaching institutes in the country. Together, both platforms will provide a blended model of online-offline learning solutions for students.

JEE and NEET content: Aakash is the most trusted name in the medical and engineering test preparation program in India, whereas BYJU’S is known for its expertise in the K12 segment and innovative visual‑based learning method. With the integration of Aakash plus BYJU’S, Aakash’s pedagogy will add value to BYJU’S learning content and technology and create a more engaging and innovative learning curriculum.

Bringing back BYJU’S Offline Learning Mode with Aakash: BYJU’S had initially started its operation in a traditional classroom, however, it soon shifted to the online mode of learning with BYJU’S – the learning App.  The union of Aakash plus BYJU’S will give BYJU’S the space it needed, as the Aakash institute has already occupied a pretty strong base in offline mode.

The Best Teachers of both the platforms: With top faculties from both BYJU’S and Aakash, students will receive the best of education in the K12 segment, test prep courses, and competitive exam programs.

Looking Further…What is in the Pipeline?

Following the acquisition, Aakash will continue its offline operation independently and go deeper into tier-2 and tier-3 locations through a hybrid of online and offline teaching. BYJU’S will make investments for the expansion of Aakash.

Aakash’s online venture ITutor and Aakash Live are similar to BYJU’S learning program; hence it is more likely to be incorporated in BYJU’S online technology. Both the platforms will operate as a joint and combined entity.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of schools have demonstrated the significance of online education in India’s education sector. A hybrid model that is a combination of both offline and online models in K-12, test prep, and even in higher education in India is now inevitable.
