Andhra Pradesh and SRAM & MRAM Group Forge a $25 Billion Vision

Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh — January 2, 2025
In a landmark move, the UK‑based SRAM & MRAM Group convened with Andhra Pradesh’s top leadership, including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, to discuss two transformative investments worth a cumulative $25 billion.
At the heart of discussions were two pioneering projects:
- SISMC – the proposed SRAM India Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, aimed at bolstering India’s self-reliance in chip production
- SRAM Global Technology University, a greenfield university set to elevate technical and research-based education to global standards
Besides the Chief Minister, the meeting drew in key figures such as the state’s Health Minister, Finance Minister P. Keshav, MLA V. Prasanthi Reddy, MP V. Prabhakar Reddy, along with top executives from the SRAM & MRAM Group.
Together, they envisaged a shared vision of Amaravati as a futuristic destination for manufacturing innovation and knowledge-driven education.

SISMC: India’s Semiconductor Leap
The global chip crunch exposed a strategic vulnerability in India’s technology ecosystem. Addressing this, SRAM & MRAM Group is proposing SISMC, a full-fledged semiconductor fab in Amaravati. Envisaged as a high-end facility capable of handling everything from design to fabrication, it’s designed not just to serve domestic demand but to emerge as a global supplier.
This initiative aligns with India’s semiconductor mission, potentially generating a multitude of high-value jobs, attracting specialised talent, and linking research institutes with cutting-edge industry roles.
SRAM Global Technology University
Parallel to the manufacturing drive is the plan for a world-class SRAM Global Technology University. The envisioned institution would break the conventional mould, blending practical, industry-driven courses with deep research programs. Think of labs equipped for AI, sustainability, electronics, and partnerships with semiconductor fab operations, startups, and global research institutions.
Andhra Pradesh’s government is already on board, exploring land allocation and scaffolding the university’s greenfield development in Amaravati.
